Marriage must remain what it has always been – a union between one man and one woman. And I would add to that, a union for life. … While Massachusetts was allowing homosexuals to marry, I got a constitutional amendment passed in Arkansas in 2002 defining marriage as between one man and one woman. … In an effort to turn the growing tide of divorce, I led Arkansas to become only the third state to adopt covenant marriage. … The late Cardinal O’Connor decried a domestic partnership law (which provided that all couples who signed up, whether heterosexual or homosexual, would be treated the same as married couples) as legislating that marriage doesn’t matter. … I agree with the Cardinal: marriage does matter. And, I would add that nothing in our society matters more.Our true strength doesn’t come from our military or our gross national product, it comes from our families.”

I’ve never asked, she says. I’ve never wanted to put a face to the person. I’ve never wanted to give her an identity.” … Catherine: ”Catherine stayed with her husband despite her suspicions of his infidelity, until the day the sheriff knocked on the door. [He] served him child support papers, she says. He knew it was coming, and he just opted not to tell me. St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke’s announcement that he would not offer communion to GOP presidential contender Rudy Giuliani – an ardent supporter of abortion embarking on his third marriage – upset Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg. It seems that the Catholic God always says judge,lest ye be judged, complained Goldberg, who also complained the church should punish proponents of the death penalty and the Iraq war. Even Elisabeth Hasselbeck denounced Archbishop Burke as a publicity hound.”
2007 – (10-02-07) – Oprah’s promotion of porn and adultery shameful, says Christian attorney - The Expositor - ”In a recent show titled 237 Reasons to Have Sex, Winfrey featured a number of so-called experts on marriage and intimacy. Among them was a woman who traveled worldwide experiencing one night stands — and then wrote a book about the experience. Another guest advocated the use of pornography for couples to enhance their marriage … ADF special counsel Pat Trueman says it is shameful that Winfrey would advocate destructive behavior on her national talk show. Shame on Oprah! says Truman. There are lots of children who watch the show. Many adults; many, many Christians; she’s got a loyal following because she does have good things on her show … But he argues that because of Winfrey’s status, giving a forum to people with what he describes as anti-Christian and sinful values only serves to popularize such behavior — and that encouraging adultery and pornography can only harm marriages.”

It is an attempt to take the sensationalism out of the subject. Accusations of such manipulation have been an issue during high-profile celebrity custody battles, like the ones involving Woody Allen and Mia Farrow and Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger.”

The restaurant’s empathetic chef (Mexican star Eduardo Verastegui) follows her around New York for a day, developing a bond that helps each discover truths about themselves and each other.”
